RATIONALE 

The Hospitality and Tourism sector is one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy and the second largest income generating sector in Botswana. The Botswana Tourism Statistics Annual report (2017) indicates that 1 774 960 tourists visited Botswana in 2017. Out of the 1 774 960 tourists 28,3% were on Holiday, 23,2 were on Business 22,5% were visiting friends and families,17,2% were on transit while the remaining 8,8% was for other purposes. This dynamic industry requires flexible responsive managers and creative managers to fully explore its socio-economic prospects. The Bachelor of Commerce degree in Hospitality Management gives aspirants an opportunity to be part of the global leaders in the hospitality industry. The programme is unique in that it covers all areas in the Hospitality industry being the food and beverage, accommodation, front office and food production sections.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

Applicants will be admitted to this Learning Programme on the basis of one of the following minimum qualifications: 

1. Applicants must have obtained a minimum qualification of five credits at Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) (NCQF Level 4) or its equivalent including a pass in English language. OR 
2. Candidates who have successfully completed a Certificate (NCQF level 5) or Diploma (NCQF level 6) Diploma in Hospitality or Tourism, or its equivalent from a recognized institution, may render the candidate eligible for exemptions or credit transfer in accordance with applicable University policies. OR 
3. Special Entry: Candidates who do not have the minimum academic qualifications stated above, but have five years relevant work experience in a related field, will be considered upon satisfying the requirements of the Academic Affairs Board that might include an entrance interview. 

DURATION 

The modes of delivery to be used for this learning programme are full time (4 years) and Part time/ Block release (5 years).
