
Prof Aloysius Mosha
Prof. Aloysius Clemence Mosha, B.A(Hons), Ph.D. MRTPI, MPULA(Botswana)
Prof. A.C.Mosha is currently a full professor and Vice President, Academic Affairs and Research at the BAISAGO University (2021- to-date) and the former Dean of the Faculty of the Built Environment, Arts and Science (2019-2020). He obtained a first honours degree in town planning(1972 – University of Newcastle upon Tyne-UK) and a doctorate degree in town planning from the University of Nottingham, UK in 1976. Since then he has attended several self-development courses in various areas including one on university management, environmental impact assessment and GIS. He has extensive practical and academic experience in the field of Urban and Regional Planning, Human Settlements, Environment, Climate Change and Municipal Finance among others. He was a Director, Town Planning Department, Capital Development Authority, Dodoma Tanzania (1976-1977; Director of Studies and Head of Urban Planning Department at the Ardhi University, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (1977-1990); University of Zimbabwe where he established the Urban Planning and Design Programme (1978) and at the University of Botswana as head of the Urban Planning Programme (1990-2018).
He has carried out extensive research related to physical planning and other cognate subjects and has also participated in various United Nations and other international organisations’ consultancy and research projects in the African and Asian continents on pertinent human habitat issues. He sits in various local and international professional bodies in the area of human settlements.
In his professional experience, Prof. Mosha has participated in several settlement urban master plans and other design projects; submission of plans or changes of land use; environmental impact studies and other projects. Further, Prof. Mosha is widely published locally and internationally. Many of his contributions are recorded in papers, book chapters, books and other publications which are used as valuable reference documents by the public fraternity and academics. A summary of research carried out and publications include: 4 books; 21 book chapters; 22 Referred Journal Articles; 41 Papers in Published Conference Proceedings; 8 Edited works; 27 unpublished conference papers; 23 research works and 29 professional consultancy works.
