Objectives

The Bachelor of Commerce (HONS) Degree in Actuarial Science is a highly specialised professional programme for practitioners in the insurance, finance and investment fields as well as those aspiring to join the same. The degree provides both theoretical and practical underpinnings to the banking field, in particular bank supervision department. Entry Requirements

·         Candidates must have obtained at least five (5) Credits at BGCSE (or equivalent) including English language and a pass in Mathematics or at least 2 subjects at the Advanced Level with a pass in Mathematics or their equivalents.

·         A higher qualification in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

A person who has obtained a degree of a degree awarding institution.

A person who has obtained from a University or an Institution of similar status, academic qualifications (other than degrees) acceptable to the Senate.

A person who has obtained an appropriate number of subjects at an approved examination equivalent to the standard of the Ordinary Level of the general Certificate of Education examination and has subsequently passed an intermediate or equivalent examination at a University acceptable to the Senate.

Programme Duration

The Degree programme will run over duration of 54 months (4 and half years) for full-time learners (nine semesters in fifty-four months, consisting of six months each). The first six months (semester) is the Foundation. Learners will be required to undertake work learning attachment after completing the first two years of the programme and this will be for one academic year
