Acting Dean, School of Graduate Studies and Research
The School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) plays a central role in advancing the Vision and Mission of BA ISAGO  through the delivery of graduate and postgraduate programmes. Its primary responsibility is the coordination and effective management of postgraduate offerings across the University’s four Faculties. As part of the University’s knowledge management strategy, the School contributes to the development of a knowledge-based economy by offering industry-focused programmes that respond to national and regional development needs. It creates educational opportunities for diverse groups within society through flexible delivery modalities designed to accommodate working professionals, learners in remote locations and individuals returning to academic study after extended breaks.

To ensure quality and relevance, all programmes offered by the School comply with institutional regulations and meet the standards established by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA). Through the SGSR, the University remains competitive within a rapidly evolving academic landscape. The Research and Innovation Unit, which operates within the School, is mandated to raise the profile and impact of the University’s research agenda by stimulating and coordinating research and innovation across the academic community at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Unit pursues this mandate through six strategic goals:

SG 1: To broaden research participation among academic staff through structured training initiatives
SG 2: To enhance the quality of research conducted within the University
SG 3: To support and coordinate research activities across the Institution
SG 4: To promote internationalisation through research collaboration and student, staff and programme exchange
SG 5: To serve as the link between BA ISAGO  and external organisations on research and innovation matters
SG 6: To optimise the commercial and academic value of intellectual property generated from graduate and undergraduate research

A multi-pronged strategy has been developed to realise these goals. This includes the formulation of policies, the establishment of research management structures and the implementation of targeted activities such as research training workshops, support for research funding applications and the promotion of ethical conduct in research and innovation.
