Exemption and Credit Transfer Guidelines

An exemption refers to the waiving of a BA ISAGO module based on successful completion of an equivalent module at a recognised and accredited post-secondary Institution. The University reserves the right to verify qualifications with awarding bodies.

Eligibility for Exemption
  • Applicant must be registered or intending to register at BA ISAGO University
  • Modules must have been passed with a minimum of 60%
  • Qualifications must be accredited
  • Exemptions may not exceed 40% of programme modules
  • Module content must be at least 80% equivalent
  • Approved exemptions require formal module withdrawals.
Documents Required

Students must submit:

  • Completed exemption application form
  • Academic transcripts and certificates
  • Module outlines
  • Non-English documents must be translated and notarised
  • Exemptions are limited to qualifications obtained within the last eight years)
Application Process
  • Submit completed Exemption Form in duplicate
  • Attach transcript, certificate and module outlines
  • Pay prescribed fees (P750 for Industrial Attachment, P300 per module)
  • Submit applications within three weeks of semester commencement
  • Feedback issued after Academic Affairs Board meetingss.
 
Industrial Attachment Exemptions
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience
  • Supervised by qualified practitioner
  • At least 60% coverage of Industrial Attachment competencies
  • Submit certified ID, certificates, transcript and bound portfolio

Exemption fees are prescribed and non-refundable.

 

Credit Transfer

Overview

Credit transfer applies to students who have completed equivalent modules at BA ISAGO when changing programmes or progressing to higher levels.

Credit Transfer Process 
  • Submit Credit Transfer Request Form
  • Attach statement of results
  • Credits must be earned within the last eight years.

Approved transfers require study schedules to be reviewed and reissued.

Feedback is provided after the Academic Affairs Board (AAB) meetings.

Credit Transfer for BA ISAGO Students
  • Certificate to Diploma block transfers
  • Diploma to Degree block or module transfers
  • Incomplete programme transfers are subject to equivalence.
Credit Transfer Fees
  • Prescribed in the Fees Policy.
  • Non-refundable.
 
Appeal Procedure

Students may appeal in writing to the Chairperson of Senate within five business days of rejection. Feedback is issued within seven business days. The decision of the Chairperson of Senate is final.
