The Faculty of Commerce is committed to promoting excellence in teaching, learning and research. It seeks to produce graduates who are critical thinkers and to educate and train high-level human resources in support of sustainable development and community service. The Faculty aims to develop responsible citizens whose respect for human dignity is grounded in both philosophical and ethical foundations. Through its highly qualified academic Staff, the Faculty is dedicated to serving the needs of Botswana and the broader region by producing graduates who are well equipped to address development challenges and economic demands at national and international levels.


The Faculty of Commerce comprises four Departments: Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Accounting and Finance and Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Sciences. Each Department offers a range of programmes.

Accounting is “the language of business” and is an essential part of every business organization. The study of accounting helps students develop analytical and problem-solving skills as well as master the principles that govern financial reporting and decision making. A career in accounting can take many directions – from auditing, tax advising and consulting to financial management, banking and criminal investigation.
